Oksanna Malan

Oksanna has over 30 years of experience in law and business, spanning in-house and ‘big law’ firm work, as well as finance and strategy consulting. Oksanna joined Quadrant as a Partner shortly after its founding in 2015 by Robert Ming and became Managing Partner in February 2022. 

Legal experience — Oksanna previously served as Associate General Counsel for Citigroup’s Global Wealth Management business, supporting global businesses in brokerage, investment advisory, private banking, retail banking, mortgage lending, and credit cards. She advised senior management on a wide range of legal issues arising under U.S. and foreign banking and securities laws and regulations, including investment and banking products and services, regulatory compliance, litigation, policy development, compliance matters and employment issues.

She previously served as in-house legal counsel and Director for Citigroup’s Investment Research department, a global business spanning 22 countries. She also served as a member of Citigroup’s Equity Research Oversight Committee to ensure the independence and quality of research.

She began her legal career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where she worked in both litigation and corporate law departments. She represented U.S. and European clients in securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions. She also participated in all aspects of complex commercial litigation, spanning discovery, motion practice, trial and appellate proceedings.

Prior to Quadrant, she founded Spinnaker Law Group, an innovative legal services firm working with experienced, high caliber part-time attorneys to serve the needs of legal departments in a collaborative and efficient model.

Business experience — Oksanna worked on Wall Street as a senior publishing stock analyst at Citigroup, where she provided investment advice to major institutional investors, and was ranked in the Forbes/StarMine Best Analysts List. She was responsible for covering companies with over $100 billion in market capitalization in the U.S. Healthcare Services industry. Oksanna was previously a consultant at McKinsey & Company focusing on the healthcare industry. At McKinsey, she led strategy projects for top management of Fortune 500 companies.

Community involvement — Oksanna is a guardian ad litem , representing children pro bono in guardianship cases through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. She also served as President of the Board of Between Friends, a non-profit dedicated to eradicating domestic violence. 

Oksanna is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Harvard College. She lives in Chicago with her husband and three children. She would love to cook more but generally doesn’t have the time.
