Renate Harrison

Renate brings over 15 years of experience advising on and executing complex transactions, including debt and equity finance, corporate law and commercial contracts. Renate advises U.S. companies, start-ups, and private equity funds on their business operations and private financing investments. She drafts and negotiates a variety of commercial agreements as well as employment agreements and commercial leases.

Renate has extensive experience related to equity investment partnerships and joint ventures in a variety of industries. She also represents clients in the acquisition, development, construction, financing, preservation and sale of affordable housing developments, including the syndication of low income housing tax credits. She has been outside general counsel to a real estate private equity investment firm with approximately $1 billion in assets under management. Her services have included negotiating loan refinancing and workouts, advising on acquisitions and dispositions of equity interests, and advising on commercial contracts.

Renate began her practice in Boston, Massachusetts as an associate with a U.S. national law firm and subsequently spent six years as in-house counsel to a U.S.-based private equity firm. Renate obtained a B.A. from McGill University and J.D. from Harvard Law School. She is admitted to practice in Ontario, Massachusetts and Tennessee.
