Aimee Rubin

Aimee has over twenty-five years of experience as in-house counsel and private practice and has been an attorney at Quadrant Law Group since its founding in 2015.  Her practice is focused on providing counsel to clients and the negotiation of complex technology, operations, and other strategic commercial agreements.

In the 1990s, Aimee worked for a number of Silicon Alley start-ups and pioneered the development of legal agreements to establish how content would be distributed, consumed, and monetized across the Internet.  During the dot com boom, Aimee joined iVillage Inc., a female-focused Web platform and community, and advised the company on all corporate transactional matters including its highly successful initial public offering.  Aimee then joined About.com, a content destination website now known as DotDash.com, as its General Counsel, which Wired Magazine described as “one of the biggest and oldest websites on the Internet”.  There, Aimee led the legal department and was responsible for acquisition agreements, ’33 and ’34 Act reporting requirement compliance, as well as all commercial transactions and intellectual property matters.

As the Internet boom quieted, Aimee felt pulled back to her love for music, and she joined BMG Columbia House and led the in-house legal team in the acquisition of Columbia House by Bertelsmann Inc. and the resulting merger with BMG Direct.  She provided advice on internet and e-commerce issues, taxation, and employment matters, as well as strategic alliance, joint venture, asset purchase agreements, in addition to software and hardware license agreements.  Later, Aimee joined Sony Music Entertainment, where she negotiated technology and consulting agreements, as well as joint venture operating agreements.  She managed intellectual property matters and counseled on bankruptcy, taxation, and privacy issues.  After working in-house for over fifteen years, Aimee joined private practice and counseled global entertainment companies, software providers, and major international investment banks, ultimately leading to her joining Quadrant Law Group upon its founding.

Aimee is a classically trained musician who entered Northwestern University as a flute performance major.  However, she switched majors and graduated with a BA in Political Science and subsequently attended Suffolk University Law School.

Aimee lives in Westchester, New York with her husband and two sons.  In her spare time, she enjoys interior design and working in her backyard garden.  She also enjoys debating baseball trades with her older son, a baseball data analyst, and playing duets with her younger son, an oboist.
